Son Havana, founded in 2010, is inspired by the Island of Cuba, rescuing and spreading its cultural tradition. Its musical focus is on the Timba, one of the rhythms that makes up Salsa and is currently strongly developed by talented new Cuban artists. Cuban dance is popular at this venue, even in the formation of a wheel, known as the Cuban Casino/Rueda, which is when several couples form a circle (wheel) and change partners and moves simultaneously as directed by a leader. This bar is well received by young Salsa goers, due to a rumba/party-like environment and relaxed feel that has helped to spread the long Salsa and Cuban tradition among young people who live in Medellín. There is also an adult public, and is a popular place for foreigners and visitors. Son Havana has a Casino/Rueda practice on Wednesdays. They usually have live music at least once a week with their group Son Havana All Stars, and sometimes several times a week, varying between young orchestras in the city. They have also dabbled with concerts by national and international artists, mainly Cubans. It is a pleasant environment to share with friends and enjoy a few mojitos. It is located on Carrera 73 with Calle 44 (San Juan), near the Boulevard de la 70, in the center west of the city. Open from Wednesday to Saturday.
